Tall ship tickets are selling fast

Tickets are selling fast for a chance to sail on the Lady Washington when she returns to the Tri-Cities for a visit Oct. 24-25, 31 and Nov. 1.

The Lady Washington is a replica of a historic vessel that first sailed the Northwest coast in the late 1700s.

Tickets for a sailing are $55 adults, $45 students/seniors/active military and $35 for kids 12 and younger. For reservations, call 800-200-5239. More information about the ship is at www.historicalseaport.org.

Slipknot fans rejoice: Concert set for Oct. 11

Slipknot fans can breathe a sigh of relief Oct. 11 when the mask-wearing metal group makes its way into town for a rescheduled concert.

The group will perform at 7 p.m. at the Toyota Center at 7016 W. Grandridge Blvd. in Kennewick.

Band members took a rain check for their Aug. 23 show because their drummer became ill. Those who had already had tickets were given the option to get a refund or to hold onto the ticket for the rescheduled show.

Celebrate being a woman at Pasco expo

Ladies, get out your big purse. The 11th annual Women's Expo is near and that means free samples.

The Gesa Credit Union sponsored event features 160 vendors that offer products and services predominantly for women, including apparel, make-up, jewelry, arts & crafts, health & spa products, and more. Bring your girlfriends and empty stomachs to the bistro and wine bar, which will feature local musicians Smooth as Jazz.

Mannheim Steamroller tickets on sale Oct. 9

SPOKANE -- Tickets go on sale Oct. 9 for the Mannheim Steamroller Christmas concert at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13 at the Spokane Arena. Tickets are $30 to $65 and are available at www.ticketswest.com or call 800-325-SEAT.

Ben Macy to perform in Kennewick, Prosser

The Ben Macy Trio performs at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Maryhill Winery near Goldendale on Highway 14..

The trio also performs at 6 p.m. Oct. 14 at Bookwalter Winery in Kennewick and at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Princess Theatre in Prosser. There is no cover charge at any of the venues.

Exhibit maps out towns on Umatilla reservation

PENDLETON -- A new exhibit, Caw Pawa Laakni, which translates to They Are Not Forgotten, is on display through October at the Tamástslikt Cultural Institute in Pendleton.

The exhibit maps out 19 towns and cities within the homelands of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and how the names were derived from a Native American word.

The institute is next to the Wildhorse Casino off Interstate 84. Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day through October and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays from November through March.

Admission is $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, $17 for families up to four and age 5 and younger are free.

WSU Tri-Cities shows cult film 'Kika' on Oct. 12

The cult film Kika, directed by Pedro Almodovar, will be shown at noon Oct. 12 at Washington State University Tri-Cities.

The event is part of the college's Explore Hispanic Heritage month, sponsored by the university's student-run Multicultural Club.

On Oct. 14, Jose Miramontes will play Latin music from 7 to 8 p.m. All events are in the west atrium, 2710 University Drive in Richland. Admission is free.

Krum to serve as guest caller at Shuffler Shanty

Rob Krum will be the guest caller at the Prairie Shuffler square dance starting at 8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Shuffler Shanty, 717 N. Irving St., Kennewick. Prerounds start at 7:30 p.m. Cost is $5.

4 hard rock bands to play at Jack-son's

Four hot hard rock bands will shake things up Oct. 9 at Jack-sons Sports Bar in Kennewick. On stage will be Vengeance, Eyes of Ayden, 45th Parallel and Still-Born. Music starts at 9 p.m. Cover charge is $5 at the door.

The promoter, Shred Head Inc., will be giving away tickets to a Tri-City Americans game. The event is open to the 21 and older crowd only.

6 bands to perform at Warehouse on Oct. 24

For a rockin' good time, clear your schedule for 5 p.m. Oct. 24. Ashylus, I Declare War, Those Who Lie Beneath, Mortal Remains, The Drip and The Saddest Day are all performing at The Warehouse at 108815 E. Badger Road in Kennewick.

Tickets are $10 at the door.

Fundraiser for singer set Oct. 17 at Jack-son's

Spread the love at the Team Jowed Benefit Show at 8 p.m. Oct. 17 at Jack-son's Sports Bar in Kennewick.

Several bands are performing in support of Seattle band Eclectic Approach's lead singer, Jowed Hadeed, who is recovering from a near-death case of pneumonia and swine flu. Members of the former local hip hop group recently went on tour and are expecting Hadeed to make a full recovery.

Tickets are $10 at the door.
