Letter: Ban assault weapons

July 17, 2014

Another senseless murder and carnage of innocent children and adults shot by another disturbed individual with access to a multiple-fire assault-style rifle designed to kill as many as possible.

There will always be those of us who respect and own guns but there is no place in civilian populations for these weapons of war. When will the National Rifle Association and its supporters give us a safer society by allowing these weapons to be removed from the general public and the crazies who have access to them?

It will not take away our Second Amendment rights or be on the road to elimination of the right to bear arms. But it will help to stop this tragic loss of innocent lives and the carnage and misery caused. Please help save innocent lives by removing these war weapons where they have no right to be. Do it now before another innocent is gunned down at school.
