Landon Welter and Sam Lastoskie each drove in two runs to lead Walla Walla Valley to a 9-4 win over Bellevue Thunderbird on Wednesday at the Washington State 10U state tournament at Badger Mountain Community Park in Richland.

The win puts Walla Walla in the title game at 10 a.m. Saturday.

“The kids are really pumped that we won,” said Walla Walla coach Pat Graham. “Our league (Walla Walla Valley) hasn’t been to the state tournament in a few years. We are definitely excited to be there.”

Bellevue had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, but Walla Walla turned a double play, then Caiden Thomsen struck out the last batter to secure the win.

Starter Zach Mahan went 41⁄3 innings with five strikeouts, while Payton Graham had two hits.

Walla Walla beat Bainbridge 6-3 late Tuesday to advance to Wednesday’s semifinals.
