Students from the Washington State University Tri-Cities Digital Technology and Culture and Fine Arts programs are planning a 2K Cosplay Walk at 5 p.m. July 19 to raise awareness and money for My Friends Place, a local homeless shelter for at-risk youth.

The walk, called Power to the Geeks, begins at Adventures Underground in Richland and will end at the fingernail stage in Howard Amon Park.

Participants will be treated to numerous family-oriented activities, including music by Tumble Down Badger, a poetry slam and open mic by the Urban Poets Society, and a barbecue provided by Country Gentleman.

All donations raised will go to My Friends Place. Costumes are encouraged, but any attire will do. The event is free and open to all ages.
