Man who allegedly pulled knife in West Richland in custody

Update: Christian B. Chavez turned himself in to Benton County authorities.

Previous: A 28-year-old man is wanted by police for allegedly pulling a knife and threatening to kill someone Tuesday at a West Richland home.

Police were called to the 4400 block of Chelan Drive after someone reported Christian B. Chavez pulled a knife, said Chief Brian McElroy. Witnesses told police Chavez was hiding in a house a block away on South 42nd Place.

Police surrounded the house and tried to call him, McElroy said. The Tri-City Regional SWAT Team was then called in.

Authorities were able to talk to Chavez, but he did not tell them where he was. After waiting almost two hours, SWAT members entered the home and found it empty.

Chavez, who also goes by “Goblen,” has a felony warrant for failing to appear on a case in Benton County Superior Court.

Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward for information leading to his arrest.

He is 5-foot-7, 145 pounds, with a tattoo on his left hand between his thumb and finger.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the Benton County nonemergency line at 509-628-0333.
