The Tri-City Dust Devils outhit the Hillsboro Hops 7-6 but couldn’t put any runs across, losing 2-0 in a Northwest League game at Ron Tonkin Field in Hillsboro.

Wasted was another solid outing by Dust Devils pitcher Helmis Rodriguez, who allowed just two runs — only one earned — on six hits over seven innings. Despite losing his third consecutive decision, he lowered his NWL-leading ERA six points to 1.61.

In Rodriguez’s four starts on the road, Tri-City has given him just two runs of support in 27 innings.

Hops starter Ben Eckels was equally impressive, tossing seven scoreless innings to improve to 3-1. He struck out 11 in the process and walked just two. Dustin Loggins picked up his first save of the year despite allowing two hits in the ninth.

Grant Heyman scored both runs for Hillsboro, which maintained a two-game lead over Boise in the South Division.
