Coroner identifies body found at West Richland ball field

July 10, 2014

The Benton County Coroner’s Office has identified the person found Sunday in an unused ball field concession stand in West Richland as Daniel Wayne Taylor, 22.

Identification was made by comparing the subject's teeth to dental records from the Department of Corrections.

The body was discovered at a youth ball field on Fallon Drive near the West Richland Golf Course.

Taylor died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the coroner's office said. A shotgun was found near his body.

Police received a report at 11 p.m. Saturday that a man was barricaded in the building on the 4100 block of Fallon Drive near the West Richland Golf Course.

The building was locked and officers had to force their way in, officials said. The body appeared to have been there several days.
