Dust Devils bounce back for 3-1 win

July 9, 2014

Helmis Rodriguez threw eight sharp innings and the Tri-City Dust Devils bounced back from a big loss to tag the host Spokane Indians 3-1 in Northwest League baseball Wednesday.

A day after the Tri-City staff gave up 16 runs to the Indians, Rodriguez (3-2) gave up five hits and one run in an efficient outing.

Miguel Dilone’s RBI double put Tri-City up 2-1 in the eighth inning, and Marcos Derkes added a solo homer in the ninth. Scott Firth then came on to close it out for his seventh save.

The two teams close out their series today before coming to the Tri-Cities for three more games.
