Letter: Neighborly assist

July 9, 2014

I am an 88-year-old disabled widow living alone in a pleasant residential neighborhood. On the Fourth of July morning, a neighbor came to my home to inform me that three of us on our street had our homes or garages egged during the night. I had no garden hose, but this kind man volunteered to come over with his hose and wash it off for me.

Words cannot express my appreciation to this gentleman, and I am so thankful that there still are "old school" people out there who have kindness and generosity in their hearts. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mr. Ryan.
