A motorcyclist was flown to Kadlec Regional Medical Center after colliding Monday with an oncoming truck that was in his lane on Highway 17, according to the Washington State Patrol.
John C. Anderson, 58, of Moses Lake, was southbound on his 1998 Suzuki VL1500 when he hit the northbound 2003 Toyota Tacoma about 2:11 p.m., state police said.
Leon J. Walsh, 71, of Petersburg, Alaska, was driving the Toyota and was wearing a seat belt, the report said. He was not injured.
Walsh reportedly was trying to pass a semi-truck. State police cited "unsafe passing," but the investigation continues to determine if charges are warranted.
Anderson was wearing a helmet, though it was not compliant with federal Department of Transportation standards, state police said.
