Umatilla driver arrested for DUI after hitting Geo Metro

A 39-year old Umatilla man was arrested Saturday by Oregon State Police evening following a two-vehicle serious injury traffic crash on Highway 207 at East Punkin Center Road east of Hermiston in Umatilla County.


— A 39-year old Umatilla man was arrested for driving under the influence Saturday after a two-vehicle serious injury traffic crash east of Hermiston, according to the Oregon State Police.

Alberto Perez was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup about 6:15 p.m. at the Highway 207 and East Punkin Center Road intersection when he hit a 1992 Geo Metro driven by Baldomero Valencia Garcia, 46, of Hermiston, the state police said.

Valencia Garcia was removed from his car by Hermiston Fire Department personnel and then flown to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, state police said.

Perez was not injured. He was booked into the Umatilla County jail.

Oregon State Police troopers were assisted by the Umatilla County Sheriff's Office, Stanfield Police Department and Oregon Department of Transportation.
