Tri-City HeraldJuly 3, 2014

Two Spokane men were injured when their sport utility vehicle rolled over Thursday afternoon four miles south of Mesa.

David J. Gates, 43, drove a 1998 Ford Explorer off Highway 395, then overcorrected, causing the truck to roll over, according to a Washington State Patrol news release. Gates and passenger Donald W. Strong, 56, were taken to Lourdes Medical Center in Pasco.

Gates was wearing a seatbelt, but Strong was not, WSP said.

Inattention was listed as the cause of the accident, and Gates was cited for negligent driving, WSP said.
