Letter: 'Reflection Cafe' provides cheap entertainment

July 2, 2014

"The best things in life are free." We don't hear that much anymore, in today's age of commercialization, "selfies" and avarice.

And, not only are the best things free, but often they are "simple."

I would never have believed it, but today, one of my greatest enjoyments is a good discussion.

Not a lecture, monologue, sermon, argument, texting, asking or answering a question, sales pitch (product or opinion), or echo of my own views but a conversation.

No "right" or "wrong," just people sharing their thoughts, views and a part of themselves. Sadly, I suspect people today are forgetting how to do this, not being able to deal with an alternate view and their own "political correctness."

That's why I am grateful to Allen Johnson, Mike Pierraci and their "Reflection Caf," which meets at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month at Rosy's in Richland.

Yes, the best things in life are still free. (But inexpensive ice-cream on a hot summer evening can be pretty good also).
