Letter -- Benton assessor: Hillerman

July 1, 2014

In response to Ron Hayden's letter in the June 13 Herald about Tony Hillerman running for Benton County Assessor.

Mr. Hayden is right, Tony Hillerman is eligible for the ballot. I can't think of a finer person to run for assessor.

As far as Hayden's comment about Hillerman not being able to represent the community, nothing can be further from the truth. Tony is the only candidate in the assessor's race who has even worked in the Benton County Assessor's office.

Tony and I have been working side by side as county appraisers for more than 20 years. Tony has watched Benton County grow and has worked effectively with our county taxpayers in a respectful, professional manner.

Voters of Benton County would be well served to elect Tony, the candidate with the most experience and knowledge concerning the responsibilities needed for this important position of county assessor. As the chief appraiser in the Benton County Assessor's Office, I can assure you that a vote for Tony Hillerman is a vote for the most eligible, qualified candidate in this race.
