The Benton County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the body found in the Richland Y more than a week ago is Cody Mason.

Officials used dental records to confirm Mason's identity, said Coroner John Hansens. There was no evidence found during the autopsy that foul play was involved in the Kennewick man’s death.

Mason’s girlfriend reported finding the body on June 22 in a field behind a shed. Mason, 26, had been reported missing by family and friends earlier this month and apparently made suicidal statements before he disappeared.

The coroner’s office is waiting on a forensic pathologist’s report before releasing a cause of death. The results of toxicology tests should be available in six to eight weeks, Hansens said.
