Letter: Warmth for wood

June 27, 2014

The Herald recently published an article about a wonderful "yarn bombing" project in Alaska. Tri-Citians may be interested to know that the Richland Parks and Recreation Department is sponsoring a similar tree sweater event the October, called "Sweater Weather -- Fashions for the Urban Forest," this October.

Details are available at www.richlandparksandrec.com, but the basic idea is for knitters to sign up now for their trees and start knitting. Nonknitters should check out the website's listing of how-to activities to find out how they too can learn enough to participate.

Dress-up day will be Oct. 4, after which we will have a month to celebrate and enjoy this community art installation. Hope to see you there.
