NWL: Dust Devils fall 6-4 to Canadians

June 26, 2014

The Tri-City Dust Devils took a 2-0 first-inning lead on a two-run home run by Miguel Dilone but couldn’t make it stick, losing 6-4 in the first of a three-game Northwest League series in Vancouver.

The Canadiens scored one in the first and two in the second off Tri-City starter Tyler Gagnon, who took the loss to fall to 0-2.

Zak Wasilewski improved to 2-0 for Vancouver, giving up three runs in eight innings. Chris Rabago, a Colorado Rockies 13th-round draft pick out of UC Irvine, went 3-for-4 with three doubles and an RBI to lead the Dust Devils.

Ryan McBroom went 2-for-4 with a home run and a pair of RBIs to pace the C’s, the three-time defending NWL champions. Vancouver is second in the North Division, 31⁄2 games behind Spokane (11-2), while Tri-City is 51⁄2 games back.
