Letter: Double standard

June 25, 2014

I understand why the Hanford employees accused of defrauding the government by claiming hours they didn't actually work are being prosecuted. What I don't understand is why their behavior is any different than the Veterans Affairs employees who defrauded the government by claiming millions of dollars in bonuses they were not entitled to. I can't understand why the government is shrugging its shoulders and essentially saying, "Meh. There's nothing we can do about it."
