Natural gas leak leads to evacuations in Richland neighborhood

Tri-City HeraldJune 24, 2014

A natural gas leak led to the temporary evacuation of six to eight homes on Jason Loop in south Richland on Tuesday afternoon.

No one was hurt. Some ground work was being done in the front yard of a home on the street when a two-inch gas pipe was clipped about 3:45 p.m., said Richland fire Capt. Dean Reents.

Crews from the city's fire department and Benton Fire District 4 responded. The gas company worked to stop the leak. Reets said residents were evacuated for less than an hour.
