Kennewick man arrested in connection with burglaries

— A Kennewick man who is accused of breaking and entering two homes in Kennewick was arrested earlier this week.

Dwayne M. Bateman, 32, was arrested in Grandview on Friday in connection with residential burglary and first-degree burglary, according to officials.

Kennewick police picked up Bateman in Grandview and booked him into the Benton County jail.

Bateman is suspected of breaking into two homes on June 13, according to police.

At 4:50 a.m. that day, a home owner in the 2200 block of South Lyle Street found a suspect in his garage who had apparently entered through a large dog door. The home owner tried to restrain the suspect, but they fought and the suspect was able to escape.

Later than morning, at 8:11 a.m., at the 900 block of West 25th Avenue, the suspect apparently entered the home through an unlocked sliding door but ran away after being confronted with the homeowner.
