Rodent likely cause of KID canal breach

June 22, 2014

The canal breach that led to about 4,500 Kennewick Irrigation District customers losing water appears to have been caused by a rodent, the district's manager said.

The breach happened Saturday night in the Finley area.

Chuck Freeman, district manager, said Sunday that repairs are under way, and the district expects operations to be back to normal within 72 hours.

"We are working hard on this," he said.

The district is keeping its website updated at www.kid.org.
