Richland — A Kennewick woman says the body she found Sunday night behind a shed in the Richland Y is her boyfriend Cody Mason.
Cynthia Haley was out looking for Mason, who was reported missing by family and friends earlier this month, when she found the body, she said.
Mason, 26, was last known to be heading toward Bateman Island and had made suicidal statements before disappearing, Haley said.
Police have not confirmed the identity of the body and an autopsy is scheduled for later this week, said Capt. Mike Cobb with Richland police.
Cobb said investigators do not suspect foul play was involved.
The condition we found the body in is consistent with having been outside for quite a few days, Cobb said.
Haley was looking in the area around the 1200 block of Fowler Street when she spotted the body, she said. Mason was known to stay at a house nearby the field.
Masons family and friends had been searching for the Kennewick man since June 7, including a search of Bateman Island on Saturday, Haley said.
Richland police looked in the area for Mason after a missing person report was filed, Cobb said.
