Knickknacks are Danielle Cannon's passion. The Kennewick woman cheerfully confesses she seldom leaves a shop without another collectible in hand.

"I'm the 'Gift Shop Queen,' " Cannon said.

Now she's queen of her own gift shop, Stay Gold, which she owns with her fiance, Jamie Biddison.

The duo opened the doors to Stay Gold, at 129 Vista Way in Kennewick, on June 14.

On July 19 -- after all her stock arrives from Japan, Germany and Australia and is out of the boxes -- she'll hold her grand opening.

Owning a gift shop has been Cannon's lifelong dream.

"My theme is wonder, whimsy and weird. My shop has a fun retro-y type vibe," she said, laughing.

"I adore retro, so I have scratch and sniff stickers and sticker books for the kids, those drip type candles we loved in the '70s and some really wild jewelry -- jewelry you won't see at the mall," Cannon said.

She's also stocking some cosmetics and beauty products, made by Sugarpill Cosmetics, a popular Internet-based company.

"This way, customers can actually look at and try the makeup before they buy," Cannon said.

Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday; noon to 8 p.m. Fridays; noon to 5 p.m. Sunday and closed Monday and Tuesday.
