— Police suspect a Richland man may have been under the influence when he crashed a motorcycle early Thursday morning on Columbia Center Boulevard.

Richard Whitney, 46, drifted into the center lane near Applebee’s and hit the concrete turning lane, police said. He went airborne and slid down the road.

Witnesses saw Whitney accelerate at a light and speed down the road before crashing, police said.

Whitney was taken to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland with serious injuries. His condition was not immediately available.
