Letter: Volume inequities

June 16, 2014

Three or four times a year, the Buddhist temple in Kennewick makes noise that you can more than a quarter-mile away. Sometimes it lasts until after 9:30 in the evening.

I don't see how the Buddhists can get away with making that much noise. I was told that I was the only one who complained about this. If I am the only one this bothers, I apologize.

Also, there are motorcycles running around town without mufflers that you can hear eight blocks away, and no one seems to complain about that. But heaven forbid if you have your boom box going and it can be heard half a block away -- then you get a ticket that is twice as high as normal. Evidently it depends on what type of music you make, not how loud or disturbing it is. Again, I apologize if I am the only one this bothers.
