Hot cars and fun people are what Cool Desert Nights is all about.

The June 19-22 event features car cruises, street dances, slow drags and more.

"Cool Desert Nights is an ideal time for families to enjoy classic cars and motorcycles, delicious food, car cruises and more," said Lori Mattson, president and CEO of the Tri-City Regional Chamber of Commerce. "This year, we are excited that Windermere Group One will be launching their Outdoor Family Movie Series at the event on Friday evening."

Saturday starts at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast by the Richland Kiwanis Club at Jefferson Park, which is across the street from the Uptown on George Washington Way. Cost is $6.

These festivities take place at the Uptown: show 'n' shine from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., poker walk and kids zone from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Slow drags start at noon. The car show awards ceremony is at 3:30 p.m.

The street dance at Jack-sons starts at 8 p.m. and features the music of Eclectic Approach. Admission is $10.

For those interested in attending both nights of the street dance, a wristband is available for $10.

June 22 activities include the autocross event from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Tri-City Raceway in West Richland. The autocross is sponsored by the Sand and Sage Sports Car Club.

All types of cars are invited to take a racing spin around the track. Three runs cost $10. There is no spectator fee.
