Amon Natural Preserve: Need a study

June 16, 2014

In reference to Charles A. LoPresti (Letters, June 11), the city has no plans to "destroy Amon Basin." Building a road, which will be much needed to help reduce traffic congestion and improve safety, across a very small portion of the region will not destroy it. The Amon Basin Preserve is something like 75 acres -- a road will leave a very small footprint in the whole scheme of things.

However, a road in this region would create much-needed connectivity for vehicles, emergency responders, cyclists and pedestrians.

I do agree with Mr. LoPresti's assertion that the city needs to give the matter a thorough study and that is why I advocate leaving this proposed road in the Transportation Improvement Program so that it can be studied.
