Tri-City HeraldJune 13, 2014

Monica Regalbuto has been named associate principal deputy assistant secretary for the Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management.

She starts work June 16 as she waits for confirmation of her nomination to be assistant secretary of energy for environmental management. It is the top DOE position responsible for Hanford and other defense cleanup sites.

In that position, she will use her technical expertise to lead mission units within the Office of Environmental Management, according to a message to DOE employees.

Regalbuto is deputy assistant secretary for fuel cycle technologies with DOE's Office of Nuclear Energy.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a hearing on her nomination in May, and this month the Senate Armed Services Committee is expected to hold a hearing on her nomination.
