3-car chain reaction on blue bridge slows traffic, injures 1 in Kennewick

June 13, 2014

— A three-car chain reaction crash Friday on the blue bridge in Kennewick slowed traffic and injured one, the Washington State Patrol said.

Reina I. Mejia, 38, of Pasco, was going too fast in a 2007 Nissan Sentra when she crashed into cars stopped for traffic in front of her in the northbound lanes of Highway 395, said the state patrol.

Mejia hit Maria G. Martinez Sanchez, 28, of Pasco, who was driving a 1999 Mercury Sable, the state patrol said. Martinez Sanchez was injured and taken to Trios Health in Kennewick with unknown injuries.

Martinez Sanchez’s car then struck a 2007 Ford Fusion driven by Cassandra Arey, 24, of Kennewick, the state patrol said. Arey was not injured.

Martinez Sanchez and Arey had stopped for traffic, the state patrol said. All the drivers were wearing seat belts.
