An update on cleanup after the Fukushima nuclear disaster will be presented June 17 by Yasuo Onishi, a scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Onishi has shared his expertise in radioactive decontamination during visits to Japan since the earthquake and tsunami in March 2011.

He will speak at a meeting of the Eastern Washington Section of the American Nuclear Society at the Shilo Inn, Richland.

There is no charge to attend his 7 p.m. talk, but a dinner meeting an hour earlier costs $22. Reservations should be made by Friday by calling 509-366-9632.
