Letter: People are Amon Preserve's problem

June 9, 2014

Enough is enough. The Tapteal Greenway group didn't have the money to buy the Amon Creek area everyone is complaining about and knew years ago it was going to be developed.

I have lived across Leslie Road from the preserve for more than 20 years and once enjoyed the plentiful wildlife there. Building a road across the Amon Basin would seems no more destructive than all the people and dogs running free in the area.

Gone are the days of numerous coyotes, rabbits, pheasants, quail and ducks because of all the foot traffic. If we really want to preserve this area for nature, make it off limits to people and their animals.
