— A Kennewick man who police say made death threats against officers was arrested Monday after a brief standoff.

Keith Eric Brier, 38, gave himself up to authorities after the Tri-City Regional SWAT team surrounded his house on the 1600 block of South Dayton Place, police said.

He had locked himself and his 6-year-old son inside the house and refused to come out for more than an hour, police said.

Brier is suspected of making death threats against Kennewick officers on the rants and raves section of Craigslist, police said. A tipster notified police about the threats in May.

Brier was reportedly upset about citations he received from Kennewick officers in 2011 and 2013, police said.

Neighbors were asked to leave their homes while the standoff was happening and Washington Elementary School was placed on lockdown for an hour.

Brier finally walked out of the house around 3:15 p.m. and the child was given to his mother.
