Naked West Richland swimmer arrested

Tri-City HeraldJune 6, 2014

— A naked man floating and swimming down the Yakima River near the Van Giesen bridge and yelling for help was arrested on suspicion of disorderly conduct at 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office reported that when West Richland officers arrived at the bridge, they found a 26-year-old West Richland man on the shoreline.

He was obviously drunk, according to law enforcement reports.

The incident is a reminder of the potential dangers of swimming or floating the river under the influence of alcohol, according to the sheriff’s office.
