Letter: Lusk ruling appropriate

June 3, 2014

I'm writing in response to the verdict in the Linda Lusk trial. While I regret that her beautiful and talented daughter will miss her presence at her graduation, the law is clear with convicted sex offenders and their access to school functions and property.

I have a family member who also was the victim of a similar crime and his perpetrators are banned from attending any Richland School District event.

Lusk has put this story on the TV every chance she can and has damaged her image and that of her family repeatedly. As the family member of a victim, you are revictimized often by seeing the perpetrators of these crimes. Lusk should try to think about the victim's family for a moment and ask herself if she believes they deserve to have the spotlight on them again. Not attending is one of those unthought of consequences of Lusk's actions. The victims here include Lusk's family, the victim's family and the community of Prosser.
