Snake River to re-open for spring chinook

Tri-City HeraldJune 2, 2014

Sections of the Snake River will reopen to fishing for spring chinook this month.

Opening at the first of the month is the section below Ice Harbor Dam from the southbound Highway 12 bridge near Pasco upstream about seven miles to the fishing restriction boundary below Ice Harbor Dam.

Fishing is allowed Sunday through Tuesday each week.

Opening Thursday is a section below Little Goose Dam from Texas Rapids boat launch -- on the south side of the river upstream of the mouth of Tucannon River -- to the fishing restriction boundary below Little Goose Dam.

This zone includes the rock and concrete area between the juvenile bypass return pipe and Little Goose Dam along the south shoreline of the facility. Fishing is allowed Thursday through Saturday each week.

The daily catch limit for hatchery adult chinook has also been increased to two hatchery adult chinook -- marked with a clipped adipose fin -- and four hatchery jacks measuring less than 24 inches. Barbless hooks are required.
