Letter: Approve safety tax

June 1, 2014

The quality of life we enjoy in this region is very important to me.

I don't take for granted that we have excellent schools, a flourishing economy, and serve as a magnet for attracting new people and businesses to this area. We truly are fortunate.

I also understand that all of these things are possible only if we are a safe community.

Without safety, none of these other qualities become possible.

This is why Proposition 14-5, the Benton County Public Safety Sales Tax, is so important. It is a comprehensive and well-balanced approach to public safety, combining both enforcement and prevention strategies to ensure our community remains safe.

I invite voters to learn more about this ballot measure at citizens4safecommunities.com.

It's important to understand that maintaining, and improving upon, our quality of life won't just magically happen.

It requires responsible voters to get involved and makes decisions that benefit not just them individually, but our community as a whole.

I'm willing to do my part by approving this ballot measure. I encourage others to do the same.
