Sunnyside soccer places third

Sunnyside's soccer team earned its first state hardware in program history with a 3-2 shootout win over Shorewood in the third-fourth place game at the Class 3A state tournament at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup on Saturday.

Justin Collins gave Shorewood a 2-1 win in the 75th minute before Jose Marquez scored the equalizer to force overtime.

Scoring—1, Shore, Taj McChesney, first half; 2, Sun, Noe Meza, second half; 3, Shore, Justin Collins; 4, Sun, Jose Marquez. Goalkeepers—Sun, Manuel Calvillo. Shore, Isaac Whitaker, Kyle Crawford.
