More Wanapum park reservations canceled

Tri-City HeraldMay 30, 2014

Washington State Parks is canceling reservations at Wanapum Dam State Park through Sept. 15, the end of the reservation season.

The agency previously had been canceling reservations at the park through July 7 and refunding money.

After the discovery of a crack in the Wanapum Dam this spring, the Grant County Public Utility District lowered the water level and also closed all beaches and access to the Columbia River above the dam to protect sensitive cultural resources and to help ensure public safety.

Because the beach and water access are integral to the park, all access including walk-in access is closed, said the parks service.
