Viticulture, enology scholarships available

The Washington Wine Industry Foundation has more than $20,000 in scholarship money available for students studying viticulture, enology or related disciplines.

Applications are due by June 1.

The scholarships available this year include:

-- Two Horse Heaven Hills Wine Growers scholarships, each for $1,500, will go to students who are residents of Benton, Yakima or Klickitat counties. The scholarship was created by industry members dedicated to promoting education of grape growing and wine production.

-- Several Walter J. Clore scholarships ranging from $500 to $2,000 in honor of Clore's grape research and lifetime achievements in viticulture and enology.

-- The Foundation Scholarship, established last year, will award five $3,000 scholarships.
