Letter: Benghazi

May 18, 2014

It seems ludicrous that either party should balk at discovering and publicizing the truth about Benghazi. Congress is composed of state representatives who are sent to Washington to lead our nation. When a debacle like Benghazi occurs, Congress, not Republicans or Democrats, liberals or conservatives, but Congress acting as a unified body should come together to flush out the truth and make it known. That process should include interviewing everyone who has any knowledge of events that led up to, took place during, or occurred subsequent to the tragedy.

Any "veto process" that would prevent witnesses who can provide insight into the investigation from testifying should immediately be rejected. Has our government become so partisan that party image and refusal to accept accountability overrides the truth? If so, this nation is well on its way to becoming a third-world society.
