Alvaro Licea scored the game-winning goal on a diving header off a cross by Sam Borja in the 31st minute to lead Kennewick to a 3-2 victory over Hanford in a District 5/8 semifinal game Thursday in Richland.
With the win, the Lions (13-5) are off to state for the third consecutive season. They will play at Sunnyside (16-2) at 1 p.m. Saturday in the District 5/8 title game. The Grizzlies are ranked No. 4 in the most recent state poll, while Kennewick is sixth.
Hanford will host Kamiakin at 1 p.m. Saturday in an elimination game.
Kennewicks Ramiro Chavez opened the scoring in the 7th minutes with his 21st goal of the season. Hanford came back to tie the score with a penalty kick by Maraio Zarate in the 22nd minute.
Federico Villasenor gave the Lions a 2-1 lead 6 minutes later, and Licea scored before the half for a 3-1 advantage.
The Falcons (14-4) got a goal by Kelly Smith three minutes into the second half, but couldnt get anything else past Lions keeper Henry Hernandez.

Sunnyside (16-2) outshot Kamiakin (7-11) 13-5, adding scores from Lupe Granados and Francisco Quiroz in the second half.
With the win, the Grizzlies locked up a trip to state.

Toppenish 3, Grandview 1: The Wildcats scored three unanswered goals in the second half two by Servando Fuentes to beat the Greyhounds in the 2A District 5/6 championship game in Grandview.
Toppenish (12-5-1) earned the No. 1 seed to the state playoffs, while Grandview (11-6) will host Othello (14-5) at 1 p.m. Saturday for the No. 2 seed.
The Wildcats took advantage of a couple of loose balls in front of the Greyhounds net for their first two goals.
We just didnt deal with the situation very well, said Grandview coach Anne Holden. We were hesitant and they were opportunistic.
Alex Martinez scored the lone goal for Grandview, while Antonio Garcia had four saves.

Othello 2, Selah 1 (2 OT): Jacob Quiroz, who assisted on an earlier goal, scored the winner with 30 seconds left in the second overtime to keep the Huskies season alive and give them another crack at rival Grandview with a trip to state in the balance.
Quiroz took a feed from Jason Rodriguez and made a move on two defenders closing in on him, getting them off balance before launching a 40-yard knuckleball into the upper right-hand corner of the goal.
