Awards ceremony at Southridge High School to honor black students

The annual awards ceremony of Afro-Americans for an Academic Society is Sunday at Southridge High School.

It's the 38th year for the event that honors black students. The ceremony is from 3 to 5 p.m., with doors opening between 2:15 and 2:45 p.m.

Tickets are required and must be purchased in advance. They are available at Back Street Hair Design at 8236 Gage Blvd., Suite B, Kennewick, or at Lucky Flower at 6827 W. Clearwater Ave., Kennewick.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors 55 and older and youths in 6th to 12th grade, $5 for children in kindergarten to fifth grade and younger children are free.
