Kamiakin soccer shocks Mt. Spokane

Kamiakin shocked the top-ranked Class 3A team in the state, getting a goal from Brandon Boehnke to begin the second half and holding on for the upset win at Spokane Falls on Tuesday in the Class 3A district regional boys soccer tournament.

“Our guys just continued to grow stronger as the game went on ,” Kamiakin coach Jeff Bennett said. “The goal was the turning point for us to continue to play hard. The turf up there helped us, and we got a great performance from (goalkeeper) Riley Shulman on the line.”

Shulman stopped 12 shots for his third shutout of the year.

The Braves (6-11) will travel to Sunnyside (15-2) to face the CBBN champs at 6 p.m. Thursday.
