Benton County sheriff taking applications for citizens academy

The Benton County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the Citizens Academy program.

The five-week academy starts June 3 and allows citizens to experience daily operations at the sheriff's office.

Citizens will learn about patrol procedures, traffic enforcement, crime scene investigation and other areas of the sheriff's office.

Applications are due by Friday. Class size is limited to 30 people.

Pick up applications at the sheriff's office in Kennewick or by sending an email request to Detective Sgt. Kevin McCary at kevin.mccary@co.benton.wa.us.
