Fast Focus: 'What message do you have for your mom?' Lessons learned

May 11, 2014

Two simple words: Thank you. Throughout my life, my mother, Marilynn Manke, has given me all that I need to become a confident, capable adult. With my father, Richard, she taught me how to be self-sufficient. She taught me how to manage my money, fix healthy meals and bake excellent chocolate chip cookies, and to understand the value of doing a good job. She shared the same skills to hundreds of kids as a home and family life teacher at River View High School. However, as my mom would often say, you have to have fun, too. Whether it is making quilts to donate to silent auctions or taking an Alaskan cruise, my mom showed me how to enjoy life and help others. Thanks, Mom!
