WSU chancellor gives faculty, staff awards

A biology professor and a copy center employee were honored along with graduates during Washington State University Tri-Cities' commencement ceremonies Saturday.

Kate McAteer, clinical assistant professor of biological sciences received the Chancellor's Excellence Award for Faculty. Chancellor H. Keith Moo-Young credited McAteer for "single-handedly keeping the science and math programs alive" while also maintaining a research program at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

The Chancellor's Excellence Award for Staff went to Dee Hermsen in recognition of her work supporting all other departments on campus, from providing documents and tests to professors to helping students create polished presentations and projects.
