Man gets almost 4 years in prison for forcing girl into prostitution

A Kent man who pleaded guilty to forcing a teen into prostitution and assaulting her was sentenced to almost four years in prison.

Deepak S. Samra, 20, took naked pictures of the 15-year-old victim and forced her to have sex with his girlfriend's neighbor for $60. He also helped assault the girl when she refused to have sex with another man.

Samra pleaded guilty in February to promoting prostitution, possessing the naked pictures, third-degree assault and rendering criminal assistance. He was sentenced this week in Benton County to three years, eight months in prison.

Samra's girlfriend helped him befriend the girl and force her to have sex for cash. The 17-year-old served time in a juvenile facility for promoting prostitution.

Her younger teen sister also served time in a juvenile facility for assaulting the victim.

Authorities found nude pictures of the girl on Samra's phone and text messages setting up "dates," authorities said. Samra advertised the girl online in Seattle.

The girl told police she agreed to the photos because she was scared of Samra and his girlfriend, authorities said.

Samra, his girlfriend and the sister were arrested after the victim was assaulted outside a Kennewick 7-Eleven in June.

The victim was assaulted by the group as she left the store, authorities said. Samra encouraged the attack, yelling to "get her" and "knee her in the face."

Police found the victim bloodied and she told them about the prostitution when she was interviewed.

Prosecutors said Samra was the main culprit who forced the girl into prostitution.

Samra had no prior felony convictions.
