Tri-City HeraldMay 8, 2014

— Several residents in Franklin County reported receiving phone calls from a person pretending to be from the sheriff’s office.

The caller told residents they need to pay a fee because they failed to show up for jury duty, the sheriff’s office said. The residents are threatened with jail if they don’t pay.

The number the person is calling from is 509-221-0688.

Officials want to warn citizens that no one from the sheriff’s office is making the calls.

If anyone gets a similar call they should report it to the sheriff’s office at 509-545-3510.
