Letter: Do something about it

May 4, 2014

It seems almost absurd to ridicule a cause or issue you have no interest in or do not support, right?

In that case, how can people sit back and watch the news -- shouting and yelling at the TV with every disagreement they have regarding what is being said -- yet do nothing about it?

It almost sickens me to see someone gripe and moan about a political or governmental issue, yet refuse to support the government in any way. Put in similar terms, this action could be compared to complaining about your local school district not having enough money to pay for sports, bus garages or extracurricular activities, then voting against the levy.

It makes no sense. It's almost as if you're contradicting your own opinion. Don't be the individual who chooses to sit back and complain about how the government works and shout demands through the TV screen, while at the same time choosing not to be a supporter of the government and cynically and skeptically paying your taxes. In other words, if you aren't willing to support something don't complain about it.
