Kennewick gifted program materials available to be reviewed

KENNEWICK -- Kennewick School District wants to notify the community that the materials listed below are available for review and public display.

These supplemental materials are intended for use in the Kennewick Opportunities for the Gifted, or KOG, program for fourth- and fifth-grade reading classes.

Materials will be available for review from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through May 16 at Vista Elementary, 1702 N. Young St. in Kennewick.

-- The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau, published by Random House, copyright 2004.

-- Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson, published by Atheneum Books for Young Readers, copyright 2010.

-- Kids at Work by Russell Freedman, published by HMH Books for Young Readers, copyright 1998.

Following the 10-day public inspection, the departments' curricular advisory committee will review the reports before deciding to recommend to the school board whether to buy the materials.
